Day 8 – Richmond
Up at 6:30 as usual ready for breakfast at 8:30. Full English again which was a mistake as was pretty awful, toast was lovely. We walked off around 9:30 and then stopped for photos at the Reeth sign. Brits fancy new selfie stick didn’t work and he spent 10 mins trying to get it working. Dek’s £2.50 stick was out, connected and photo taken whilst brits was still cursing.
Photos done we left, walk on the road for a little while then moved into the fields. Through some fields and a few small peaks we eventually got to a little village where we decided to visit the local church as they had snacks and drinks for walkers. No coffee or tea so we headed off after a drink.
Crossed a few wooden bridges and some paths up the edges of the local hills. Brits was struggling by now and breathing like a murderer on death row, bit we still plodded on.
We saw the Germans again on the entrance into Richmond and slowly (as my Quads had packed up) made our way down into Richmond.
Brits had parked him car here and he wanted his clothes which he stored in my suitcase. I checked into my room, but the suitcase hadn’t arrived yet so we walked up the steepest road in the world to the pubs. We had a couple of pints, Dek as well even though he had another 4 miles to walk and then back down to handover brits clothes and then he was off.
I was left to soak my aching muscles in the bath for an hour. I went for a Thai that night and met the Germans again!!
9pm sleep!!
