Day 1 Alarm off at 6:30. Packed and down for breakfast. healthy one. Poached eggs on toast and some lovely strong coffee. Great hotel the Manor, really good start to the walk. Infact I loved it so much I went back after 1/2 mile as I realised I still had my room key in my pocket!

So walk the 1 mile to the coast, pick up a pebble (to throw it in the north sea when I get there). Lovely walk down to the sea, a really nice little town/village St Bees is.
Had the standard photo at the start (also took photos for a german pair who are doing the coast to coast and a couple from my hotel).

Then I was off. Up the 300 feet cliffs and walk north for a few miles. This is pretty dramatic, but the photos I took were not good.

Turned inland after a couple of miles and headed to Dent through a couple of villages Sandwith, Moor Row and finally Cleator Moor and up the long long long path up to Dent Hill. 352 metres is not a hill… and then the decent! well if it takes a hour to climb, you are down in 15 mins!! no wonder I have cramp in my legs!

So long walk down through a small wooded area then into Nannycatch, a lovely valley through the hills on the way to Ennerdale Bridge, where I am staying tonight.

4 mile trek and then arrive here. Lovely view…

A few beers and pub food, then well deserved bed.
